1. Explain how Grace came to be known as 'Just Grace'.  How do you think the teacher handled the situation? If you were the teacher, would you have done things differently?

Bryan said...- Grace got her name because there were 4 Graces in her classroom.

Bryan and Giovanny said...- Grace's  teacher changed her name to 'Just Grace' because she was confused about Grace wanting to be called just Grace.

Jaclyn said...- Yes, the teacher handled the situation well because now she knows who is who.

Bryan and Giovanny said...- No, the teacher did not  handle the situation well because it was unfair and Just Grace's feelings got hurt.

Jaclyn said...- If I were the teacher, I would give Just Grace an initial, too (e.g. Grace S.).

Giovanny...- If I were the teacher, I would name them with numbers like Grace 1, Grace 2, Grace 3, and Grace 4.

Rafael said...- If I were the teacher, I would call them by their middle names.

Luis said...- Grace got her name 'Just Grace' because she wanted to be just Grace by itself, but the teacher did not understand her and named her 'Just Grace'.

Julio said...- Yes, the teacher handled it well because now the teacher and the kids would not get confused with know who was who.

Daniella said...- No, the teacher did not handle it well because 'Just Grace' did not like her new name.

Andrew said...- There were 4 girls that had the name Grace. The 4 girls were arguing about their names. The teacher decided to give other names like Grace W., Grace F., Gracie, and 'Just Grace'. The teacher got confused about the word JUST and named her 'Just Grace'. 'Just Grace" was embarrased.

Rosario said...- Yes, the teacher handled it well because now she could tell them apart.

Adan said...- Yes, the teacher handled it well because if she had not put initials, she woul have gotten confused.

Isaac said...- No, she did not handle it well becasue 'Just Grace' has the "stupidest name in the whole class and maybe the whole wide world".

Mizael, Aldo, Frankie, and Khristy said...-There were four Graces in the classroom. The teacher decided to name them Grace with the letter of their last names. When it came to Grace, she told the teacher she wanted to be called just Grace. However, the teacher was confused with the word JUST and then called her 'Just Grace'.

Aldo said...- No, she did not handle it well because the girls were fighting over the name Grace.

but Aldo said... Yes, she did handle it well because the first name with the initial of the last name is shorter than saying both names.

Mizael and Khristy said...- If we were the teacher, we would call them by their last names only.

Frankie said...- If I were the teacher, I would just call them each Miss Stewart, Miss Landowsky, Miss Francis, and Miss Wallace.

2. What do you think the word empathy means? Is empathetic a good word to describe Just Grace? Explain your answer.

"Dad says that if something scares you it's  probably because you don't know all the facts, and that if you learned more facts then you would not be so scared anymore."  Have you ever formed an opinion of something or someone but changed your mind when you learned more about it? What or who was it? How did your opinion change?

 

 

6. (page 39) Just Grace defines inspiration as "something that helps you to think of the exact right thing you were hoping to think of." What does that mean?

 

 

7. What inspires Just Grace? What idea does she come up with to help Mrs. Luther? Just Grace compares her idea to a Band-Aid. Is this a good analogy (comparison)? Why or why not?

 

 

8. The idea to help Mrs. Luther backfires. It started out as a good idea but turned into a bad idea. How did this happen? 

 

 

9. What was Just Grace's punishment going to be. Do you think it was fair? Why or why not?

 

 

10. How did Just Grace's opinion of Mrs. Luther change from the beginning of the story to the end of the story? How did Just Grace's opinion of Sammy change from the beginning of the story to the end of the story?
